The Broncos finished season with two wins over Walla Wallla University.

It's been an up and down season for the Team this year, 12-19 record. Just staying healthy in the early part of the season and then just the inconsistencies of a young team led to their final record.

But thinngs are looking bringt for the Broncos next year. With the potential of all player's returning and the addition of new players the competition for position's should be intense according to Head Coach Cal Ingraham.  Tryouts will be in late August.

CALI TRIP A SUCCESS

This past weekend the Broncos traveled to California to play Stanford University, San Jose State and University of California.

Friday night's game versus Stanford the Broncos came out strong. Playing aggressive and scoring the first three goals before penalties slowed the Broncos down. The penalties allowed the Cardinal to get back into the game and eventually go ahead 4-3 with five and a half minutes to go into the game. It was at this point a light switch was turned on stay out of the box and maybe we can win this game. They did just that. John Hildreath scored the tying goal and the game ended in a tie at the end of regulation forcing an overtime. Neither team could score but it was definite the the advantage had swung back in the Broncos favor out shooting the Cardinal 6-1. Next came the Shootout. Kevin Costello, Rusty Costello and Jared Hergesheimer scored in succession and Will Gagnon allowed just one out of three shots. Broncos 5   Stanford 4

Saturday nights game was a tale of two games. Playing against the 8 ranked team the Broncos came out again strong. But over aggressiveness led to some mistakes that led to two goals by San Jose. But Broncos kept the pressure up frustrating into errant passes and miscues. The game was begining to resemble the earlier U of I game.
Jared Hergeshimer started the Broncos scoring with a shorthanded goal less than one minute into the second period, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Keeping the pressure up and playing physical  Kept the Broncos in the game with the Broncos Eric Haskins scoring on an exchange of goals end the second period with the Broncos being down 4-2.
San Jose scored the next goal three minutes into the third period taking a 5-2 with seventeen minutes to go in the game, but the Broncos were not done yet. The forwards calmed down and the defense pounded the Spartans into turnovers and mistakes. Dan Beaudrea was solid in the net stopping any shot coming his way. Devon Harris scored at the nine min mark on a Pass from Matt Heady off a rebound shot. Devon Harris scored again with a minute and thirty eight seconds off a rebound and set the table for for final minute and thirty seconds.  Pulling the Goalie the Broncos continued to apply the pressure. The only way San Jose was able to get the puck out of the zone was to ice it. The Broncos did get the puck into the net with .04 sec left in the game but it was to no avail. Magically the net had come off, No Goal and the game ended in a 5 - 4 loss.

Great Game

McCall Games Do Not Dissapoint

This past weekend games in McCall were by far the most exciting of the Season. Looking to revenge an earlier season blowout at the hands of U of I the young Broncos took the ice much more prepared to play these games. The much more U of I team was up to the challenge though. Taking advantage of some over aggressiveness and a few miscues U of I was able to come away with a 4 - 0 win in a game that was much closer than the score indicated.

In the Saturday night game. Keeping their aggressiveness up and eliminating miscues the young Broncos out shot, out hit U of I all night. Shot after shot either hit the crossbar or deflected in area where a rebound goal was hard to come by.  In the end on the scoreboard the Broncos lost 2 - 1.
